As women age we have a diminishing inventory of eggs. Further, we have a higher probability of eggs and the embryos being chromosomally abnormal.

The ability of the embryo to self correct diminishes with age.

Over the weekend, Amy Schumer shared the results of her IVF.

35 eggs retrieved
26 fertilized

Results after genetics:
2 low level mosaic embryos
1 normal embryo

In any IVF patients need to be well informed that there will be a drop off and not all eggs becomes chromosomally normal embryos.

The reasons are
-age
-the ability to self-correct
-intrinsic genetic issues such as balanced translocation in either egg or sperm.
-depleted energetic/metabolic status in the egg, lower IGF-1 status and possibly the mode of fertilization (ICSI v conventional micro drop fertilization)
